Poetry Paintings

I started reading poetry in high school and college and that’s when I started “fooling” around with it.  But I wasn’t interested in the formal study of poetry; I was just trying to find ways to integrate the language of ideas with my visual ideas to express a thought or feeling in a succinct way.

In 2012 I started compiling all the poems I’d stuffed in a drawer and then chose a few to “paint.”  From that process in 2013 I decided to self-publish “Poetry InsideWords” using digital illustrations from my own photography that have been manipulated with multiple filters in Photoshop.

Since the book’s publication I have done readings from the book at local bookstores and in library readings.  Below is a pdf of the book “Poetry InsideWords” – Enjoy!
